Loosening up...or trying to, anyway

If you try too hard to loosen up, does it defeat the purpose?

I’ve been doing little, loose watercolours in front of the TV. I think I’ve discovered my happy medium, or happy creative situation. It’s when I’m doing something alongside someone else…just casually talking or watching something with others, while working away on 2 or 3 different pictures.

Even though the lighting is terrible in the living room, and I'm working from a small phone screen - I’m actually painting, which is the most important part. And not thinking too hard, just relaxing and experimenting.

This is from my “to paint” album on my phone. A photo snapped in 2016 from passenger window of the truck as we whizzed through Pinehouse, SK area. It was so cold that day, -40. I haven’t experienced cold like that since moving to the UK 7 years ago. I can’t believe it’s really been that long. Painting these memories lets me go back there momentarily, which i’m not sure helps or intensifies the homesickness when it hits.
